Pauliina Lehtonen, PhD, is a senior research fellow in social policy, at Tampere Centre for Societal Sustainability, Tampere University, Finland. Her multidisciplinary work concentrates on public engagement, urban governance, and participatory democracy. She is especially interested in the questions of co-production of knowledge in urban space, participatory planning and decision-making practices, and challenges of social inclusion and everyday life in sustainable urban development. She has a long experience of utilising participatory and co-creation methods with citizens, NGOs, and public sector in developing public engagement practices, such as citizen panels, participatory budgeting and community involvement. Currently, she teaches in social sciences and coordinates a research consortium that studies just transition towards ecowelfare state.
